1/24 Gordon Murray Automotive Type 50
The GMA T.50 announced by the Gordon Murray Automative (GMA) as their first car in August 4, 2020 – established by Gordon Murray in 2017 – joins our 1/24 Sports Car Series. Gordon Murray designed the McLaren F1 and Brabham BT46B, and the GMA T.50 is named for his 50-year career and his 50th design.
The cutting-edge aerodynamic design employs original carbon fiber monocoque frame and carbon fiber body panels for superior rigidity and lightweight design of 986kg. The T.50 is powered by a midship 3.9-liter V12 engine developed with the Cosworth, which is capable of 654hp at 11,500 rpm with a max torque of 467Nm at 9,000 rpm.
This engine is an astonishing 178kg lightweight design with rigid aluminum engine block, and using titanium in connecting rod, valve and clutch housing sections. This car has a large (400mm diameter) aerodynamic fan at rear reminiscent of the Brabham BT46B, which gives stable performance as the car takes in air from the underside and exhausts it from rear, and downforce by high-speed rotation, in conjunction with underside air duct and rear wing. In addition, this car features one driver and two rear seats (three-seat layout) similar to the McLaren F1 design.
The 48V Mild Hybrid system called Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) has Vmax mode which raises the max output to about 690hp for three minutes at maximum. Explore this outstanding car - of which only 100 actual cars will be produced - by assembling this 1/24 scale kit!
In the 1970s to 1980s, Gordon Murray gained fame as an inspired designer who developed a string of innovative racing cars, and the GMA T.50 is the first car of Gordon Murray Automotive, which he established in 2017. Its lightness is accomplished by liberal use of carbon fiber while its streamlined form features few aerodynamic devices.
Power is provided by a midship mounted, 3.9-liter V12 engine capable of 663PS. The interior has a central driver seat with passenger seats positioned either side, diagonally backward of the driver.
